The library and documents service “Prof. Dr. Antônio Gabriel Atta”, at FOB-USP, offer services and access to information on teaching, research and community extension activities in the USP Campus, at Bauru. Together with the other University libraries, they constitute the USP Integrated Library System (SIBiUSP).
Its collection encompasses the areas of Dentistry, Speech Therapy, Basic and Health Sciences, with national and international books and journals (printed and electronic versions), subscribed by the University and Capes. It also includes monographs and theses (printed and in electronic formats), audiovisual material, reference works, technical norms and article copies. The collection is registered at Dedalus – USP Bibliographic Databases (http://www.dedalus.usp.br).
It also has access to the main databases in every area, made available by USP and CAPES, such as: Web of Science, Journal of Citation Reports, Scopus, EMBASE, CINAHL, LLBA, ERIC etc.
Among its services, are the home loan to USP users and the search and document request, for documents not locally available, by the inter-libraries loan and commutation service, between libraries from all over the country and from foreign countries or directly with the authors. To improve the use of the available resources and to support academic activities, it offers formal guidance for bibliographic searches and for standardization of scientific documents, through courses and training sessions for graduate and postgraduate students.
The Library has also a Research Support Service, which offers: guidance about scholarships, financial support and document shipment, at the “Fapesp office”; monitoring and recording of scientific production in the Intellectual Production database, available in the “Dedalus” database (http://www.dedalus.usp.br); reporting about the number of citations and H index of the Faculty members, based on the Dental School´s scientific production, available in Scopus and Web of Science databases; and guidance for profiling on ResearcherID, ORCID and Google Scholar sites.
It is responsible for the submission management, standardization and dissemination of the Journal of Applied Oral Science (ISSN 1678-7757/1678-7765). Additionally, it assists and guides standardization of other publications, manuals, catalogs and annals of events of the Dental School.
It provides computers with Internet access located in the Reading Room (ground floor) and in the Pro-Student Room (Library second floor), for research and preparation of academic papers. The study areas have rooms with tables and booths for individual and study groups. The auditorium and training room complement the infrastructure for events, lectures and courses.
Electronic resources for restricted USP use (books, journals and databases) can be accessed from the user’s own computers and mobile devices, using the wireless network, or outside the University environment (even abroad), with the use of remote VPN access.
